Le son, le rythme, le groove ? Elle est tombée dedans quand elle était petite, et c’est ainsi que, petit à petit, elle a créé sa potion musique. Le premier ingrédient fondateur, c’est la musique assistée par ordinateur. Elle découvre ce champ des possibles à faire chanter les sensibles et commence à (se) composer. Premiers morceaux par ci, premier digging par là. L’autre ingrédient majeur de sa naissante saveur, c’est la base bien arrangée, la matière première de la musique à partager, le vinyle s’il vous plaît ! Elle furette et elle fouine, cherchant à faire sa patte dans l’écoute de toutes celles des autres : d’abord les brocantes et boutiques à disque pour le blues, le jazz, le rock, puis toutes les frontières de son à franchir et découvrir. Et surtout, à (r)assembler.
Inévitablement attirée par le dee-jaying, elle plonge dans les platines avec passion, rigueur, et malicieuse ouïe fine… Oh oui, fini de chercher le chemin car le son est donné, la pétillante MEL C sait qu’elle sera dee-jay. Mêlant son super penchant naturel pour la vibe old school à son amour de tout ce qui bouge et groove, elle explore et repousse à chaque set les limites de son univers musical sans jamais changer de cap : du son, du bon son, et des foules qui vibrent à l’unisson.
Et de cet horizon presqu’infini, elle en a fait sa vie. De la musique en production aussi, comme son titre « Talking to myself » qu’elle sort avec le label Chineurs de House et bien plus ça bien sûr. Hyper active sur scène, chez nous et ailleurs d’ailleurs, puisqu’elle va bien au-delà de ses résidences au Sacré ou au Discobar : ça mixe au Djoon et au Rex, chez Madame Loyal et Mazette, au Club 1988 et au Marvellous Festival pour ne citer que ça. Et puis ça groove fort au Watergate à Berlin, au Melkweg d’Amsterdam et au Spiritland à Londres. Pas de frontière, elle t’a dit !
Ce set vinyle inédit et magique commence très clairement : turn the music on please because “That ‘s my purpose here !” Que ce soit samedi soir chez toi, ou sur cette fabuleuse terrasse au milieu des montagnes qu’elle viendra faire vibrer en avril avec le Circus, MEL C n’ira pas par quatre chemins pour te faire bouger du popotin, elle prendra le bon, celui du son !

Sound, rhythm, groove?She fell into it when she was a child, and that's how, little by little, she created her music potion. The first founding ingredient was computer-assisted music. She discovered this field of possibilities for making the sensitive sing, and began to compose (herself). First tracks here, first diggings there. The other major ingredient of her nascent flavour is a well-arranged base, the raw material of music to be shared - vinyl, please! She snoops and she pokes around, trying to make her mark by listening to everyone else's: first the flea markets and record stores for blues, jazz and rock, then all the frontiers of sound to be crossed and discovered.
And above all, to assemble. Inevitably drawn to dee-jaying, she plunges into the turntables with passion, rigor, and mischievous fine hearing... Oh yes, no more searching for the way because the sound is given, the bubbly MEL C knows she'll be a dee-jay. Combining her super-natural penchant for old-school vibes with her love of anything that moves and grooves, she explores and pushes back the boundaries of her musical universe with every set, without ever changing course: sound, good sound, and crowds that vibrate in unison.
And this almost infinite horizon has become her life. Some music production, like her track "Talking to Myself" released on the Chineurs de House label, and much more besides indeed. She's also extremely active on stage, here and elsewhere, going far beyond her residencies at Le Sacré and Le Discobar: she mixes at Le Djoon and Le Rex, Madame Loyal and Mazette, Club 1988 and the Marvellous Festival, to name but a few. And it's grooving hard at Berlin's Watergate, Amsterdam's Melkweg and London's Spiritland. No borders, she says!
This magical new vinyl set starts out very clearly: turn the music on please because "That's my purpose here!".
