Nous étions ravis de retrouver ce grand nomade qu'est Nico à Biarritz après l'avoir accueilli à notre festival en avril dernier.
Remixeur du big tune « Mi Swing Es Tropical » aux cotes du combo Candela et Quantic, Nickodemus est LA reference tropicale de la scene de New York. DJ et boss du label Wonderwheel, Nickodemus est l’expert local des sons latino-americains et afro-caribeens. Sa residence « Turntables on the Hudson » au Cielo est la plus courue dans le genre rare groove & urban afro-latin dans le quartier de Brooklin NYC, dont il est originaire ! Ses albums « Engangered Species », « Sun People » et ses compilations « Turntables on the Hudson » sont reprises par les meilleurs Djs Mr Scruff, Gilles Peterson Quantic, et meme dans les series outre-atlantique, c’est peu dire. L’ambassadeur de la scene Nuyorican Soul nous promet pour l’occasion un set tropical funky groove explosif !

Nickodemus has been touring as a DJ all over the World since the mid 90’s. As a producer, he has released three albums & remix albums entitled ‘Endangered Species’ ‘Sun People’ & ‘Moon People’, as well as 10 ‘Turntables on the Hudson’ compilations to date. As an experienced musical traveler, he excels mostly when playing in versatile settings, letting space and time guide the musical journey. His latest release ‘WONDERWORLD: 10 years of Painting Outside the Lines’ captures a decade of DIY productions and memorable releases on his own WONDERWHEEL Recordings label. Songs such as ‘‘Cleopatra in New York’ (with Carol C) and ‘Mi Swing es Tropical’ (with Quantic & Hector ‘Tempo’ Alomar)’ broke barriers in dance music and paved the way for global fusion artists with heavy beats of club music, combined with organic eastern and tropical instrumentation. Nickodemus has sustained this energy and momentum for over 15 years with the Turntables on the Hudson parties and the WONDERWHEEL Recordings label, attracting artists from all over the world including Alsarah and the Nubatones, Novalima, The Pimps of Joytime, The Spy from Cairo, Chancha Via Circuito, Sorceress and many more to come. In his remix machine, Nickodemus has done mixes for a wide range of artists including: Bob Marley, Billy Holiday, Nina Simone, Thievery Corporation, Quantic, Mr Scruff, The Pimps of Joytime, Miguel Migs, Natasha Atlas, Quantic & more. He’s now touring in USA, Europe, Australia and the Middle East. On top of that he is working on his fourth studio album coming out early 2016.
